About This Role

* Influential Communications and Stakeholder Leadership role
* Lead a dedicated cross‑functional team providing strategic, proactive, high quality communication services
* Placing community at the centre of everything to make a positive difference

This is an exceptional opportunity to support the CFA to continue to evolve, improve and innovate to provide a world‑class fire and emergency service, now and in the future.

As the General Manager Communications and Stakeholder Relations (GM) you will promote a whole‑of‑organisation approach to strategic communications and stakeholder relations that best serves the needs of volunteers, staff, and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Group General Manager Strategic Services, the GM is responsible for leading and managing the full range of external and internal communications, marketing, digital and traditional media, stakeholder relations, and public affairs functions. It has responsibility for driving innovation in communications channels and programs across CFA.

The role has two direct reports and oversees a cross‑functional team of approximately twenty highly motivated professionals largely based at CFA Headquarters (Burwood East).

Success requires an accomplished executive who is capable to work with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Officer, the Board and the Executive Team to develop strategic communication priorities, manage brand and enhance engagement with internal and external audiences.

Extensive experience and a record of achievement at a senior level in a broad range of communication disciplines within a public sector context is sought.

The Organisation

The CFA is tens of thousands of Victorians, committed to protecting lives and property, responding to a range of hazards, supporting communities to be fire ready and working as one with emergency services partners.

The members are key to the success of the CFA because they are deeply connected with their local area and have a unique understanding of their community risk.

The organisation works with community members, government, corporate and community organisations and other emergency sector agencies through public awareness campaigns and fire safety programs. It engages face to face, online and through third party stakeholders to broaden our reach to all Victorians.
