 
        
        Overview 
Platform Support Lead (IBM WebSphere & Middleware) at HCLTech Australia and Current Zealand. Lead a technical team, provide hands-on expertise in IBM WebSphere technologies, and contribute to troubleshooting, administration, and production support. 
Responsibilities 
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of junior and senior engineers, fostering technical growth and collaboration. 
- Administer and support IBM WebSphere environments, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, backup/recovery, performance tuning, and security. 
- Manage WebSphere Commerce (WCS), WAS, and Web servers (IHS, Apache, and others) across Windows, Linux, and AIX. 
- Serve as the technical escalation point for complex incidents, outages, and performance issues. 
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage incidents, changes, and problem resolutions. 
- Proactively analyse vulnerabilities and apply mitigation strategies, including fix pack installations and upgrades. 
- Automate WebSphere configuration and administration tasks using Jython scripting (AdminConfig, AdminTask, AdminControl) and shell scripting. 
- Configure JNDI data sources, manage DB connection pools, and ensure seamless integration with backend systems. 
- Troubleshoot application issues including memory leaks and java core/heap dumps; work closely with IBM support for resolution. 
- Oversee SSL certificate management and security compliance across environments. 
- Utilize and maintain infrastructure monitoring tools (Splunk, AppDynamics, AppInsight/SiteScope) to ensure system reliability and performance. 
Qualifications 
- Proven experience leading technical teams and mentoring engineers. 
- Strong hands-on expertise in IBM WebSphere, Web servers (IHS, Apache), and WCS environments. 
- Proficient in production troubleshooting, performance analysis, and on-call support. 
- Solid scripting skills in Jython and shell scripting for automation. 
- Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring and log analysis tools (Splunk, AppDynamics, AppInsight). 
- Knowledge of Azure infrastructure and container orchestration (Kubernetes) is an advantage. 
- Growth mindset, adaptability to new technologies, and proactive problem-solving skills.
