Position Information
The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students, delivering education through public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools. We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
About the Role
The School Learning Support Officers provide support for students with identified diverse learning needs, including disability, in classrooms and other learning environments under the direction and supervision of a teacher to support educational outcomes. This support includes student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required. In addition, School Learning Support Officers may provide specific support for students in the following streams or settings: pre-school, vision support, hearing support, and bilingual. Staff in these streams/settings have additional duties beyond the general responsibilities for School Learning Support Officers.
Essential Requirements
Working with Children Check Clearance
Completion of mandatory training required by the Department of Education and willingness to undertake first aid training relevant to the role
Administration of Medications – training provided based on student needs
Health support training provided based on student needs (subject to transition provisions)
Kendall Public School is located on the Mid North Coast of NSW in the Camden Haven area, 30km south of Port Macquarie. The school has a robust commitment to providing outstanding learning experiences for every student within a caring environment. 21.4% of students identify as Aboriginal. The school has one Multi-Categorical Support Class established in 2020.
