About the role
BAAH LAH Dining' is seeking a talented and experienced Full Time Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team in our restaurant located in Geelong West, Victoria. As a key member of the culinary leadership, you will work alongside the Head Chef to oversee kitchen operations, drive menu development, and mentor junior staff. This is a full-time position with opportunities for career growth within our growing hospitality group.
What you'll be doing
* Assist the Head Chef in planning, preparing and executing high-quality dishes for our diverse menu
* Supervise and coordinate the work of kitchen staff, ensuring efficiency, consistency and adherence to food safety and hygiene standards
* Run kitchen operations independently and efficiently in the absence of the head chef
* Contribute to the development and testing of new menu items, considering food trends, customer preferences and operational feasibility
* Monitor inventory and stock levels, placing orders to maintain sufficient supplies
* Train and mentor junior chefs, sharing your expertise and culinary knowledge
* Maintain a clean, organised and well-functioning kitchen environment
What we're looking for
* Minimum 3 years' experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar senior culinary role
* Strong technical cooking skills and a keen eye for detail and presentation
* Excellent communication, leadership and team management abilities
* Thorough understanding of food safety, hygiene and quality control practices
* Passion for using fresh, seasonal ingredients and creating innovative dishes
* Flexible and adaptable to the fast-paced demands of a bustling restaurant kitchen
