About the Role
As our Youth Development Coach (Foyer Warrnambool), you'll step into a part-time (0.8 EFT), ongoing role where your focus is simple but powerful, back young people to succeed.
Working within the Foyer team, you'll support young people to set meaningful goals and build the skills they need for life beyond The Foyer, think independent living, education, training and employment. This isn't about doing things for them, it's about coaching, mentoring and opening up real opportunities so they can thrive on their own terms.
Grounded in an Advantaged Thinking approach, you'll focus on strengths, aspirations and what's possible. Every interaction is about building confidence, capability and momentum, not just getting through the day.
You'll be part of a collaborative team and a wider network of services, helping create a strong, consistent circle of support around each young person. Along the way, you'll use your judgement to navigate complex situations, keep things professional, and contribute to a program that's always evolving.
If you are someone who can build genuine connections, communicate with warmth and clarity, balance empathy with action, stay calm under pressure, think on your feet, but most importantly, you see potential and know how to turn it into progress, you will thrive in this role!
Do your skills include
* In-depth knowledge about the causes and consequences of youth homelessness and the kind of strategies that are successful in supporting young people to follow pathways to independent living and educational/employment opportunities.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience of youth engagement, coaching and mentoring, particularly from an Advantaged Thinking and trauma informed practice perspective and demonstrated case management or youth work experience.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to demonstrate experience in liaising with a diverse range of young people and stakeholders.
Are your credentials
* A minimum qualification of a sector recognised and accredited Bachelor of Social Work or Diploma in Community Services or equivalent. (Qualifications must be approved by recognised professional bodies: i.e. AASW, Community Services Council, APS etc.)
* A current Drivers Licence.
