The role
As a strategic communications expert you will deliver high‑impact communications, manage reputational risks and guide senior stakeholders. You'll shape how Yarra Valley Water engages with audiences across operational and project communications.
Your key responsibilities
* Lead communications strategies for major projects and organisational priorities.
* Provide senior leaders and project teams with clear, thoughtful advice on communications and stakeholder engagement.
* Identify reputational risks early and implement practical risk‑management steps.
* Maintain the corporate writing style guide and ensure all output is accessible, inclusive and easy to read.
* Write, edit and polish content across digital channels, print pieces and events.
* Plan stakeholder engagement, including work involving Ministers and other high‑profile audiences.
* Join a 24‑hour on‑call roster for emergencies and incidents, preparing and delivering public information as required.
What we're looking for
* Proven experience in strategic communications planning and delivery (7+ years).
* Advanced stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, managing senior expectations.
* Strong research, writing, editing and content development skills.
* Demonstrated ability to identify and manage reputational risks.
* Experience across multiple media channels, including traditional media, social media, digital and events.
* Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams and management levels.
* Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism or media; post‑graduate qualifications highly desirable.
* Self‑directed, strategic thinker with excellent initiative, judgement and project‑management skills.
