Mallee Catchment Management Authority (CMA) is a Victorian Government statutory authority. Our role it is to facilitate integrated and ecologically sustainable management of natural, cultural, and productive landscapes. The Mallee CMA region covers 3.9 million hectares – about one fifth of Victoria. It is the largest catchment area in the state and runs along the Murray River from Nyah to the South Australian border, and south through vast dryland cropping areas and public reserves.
About the opportunity
An exciting, challenging and meaningful role is now available at Mallee Catchment Management Authority (CMA) within the Operations and Community team. This role is aligned to support and deliver upon key objectives and performance indicators as listed under The Living Murray (TLM) program, Victorian Murray Floodplain Restoration (VMFRP) program, Restoring Flows to the Mallee Floodplain (RFMF) program, Aboriginal Water Officer program and the Land and Water Partnerships program.
This role is considered pivotal in supporting the alignment between current natural resource management practices and historic and modern cultural water values and activities. By joining us, you'll be at the center of crucial engagement work with Traditional Owners and local communities across some of the most culturally and environmentally significant reaches of the River Murray in Victoria.
This is a full-time permanent position, with a salary of $130,000, plus superannuation.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar position with an understanding of NRM, cultural heritage and indigenous engagement.
- Demonstrated experience in leading a team, with experience in program and/or project management, delivering community and/or environmental advantages and outcomes.
- Highly developed written and verbal communications skills demonstrating a high attention to detail and an ability to effectively engage with the Indigenous community through various platforms.
- Implementation of effective strategies used to plan and facilitate engagement activities, demonstrating an ability to establish and maintain rapport with key stakeholders and local communities, including Aboriginal communities.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise, delegate, manage time and multiple demands to meet tight deadlines.
