Contract start 03 July 2023 to 12 months, 12 months extensions. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) is seeking an experienced Solution Designer to support the AMSA's Response Incident Management Solution project and the Enterprise Digital Capabilities project. The role will also be required to work with IT Enterprise Architecture, IT Application Development, and ITS Project team to deliver ad hoc business projects and change, including but not limited to legislative, digital form changes, process improvements, and regulatory changes.
Reporting to the Director of ITS Projects and Project Managers (as applicable), the Solution Designer duties include, but are not limited to:
Working with business stakeholders, users, business analysts, project manager/s, and architects to understand the challenges that are needing resolution. Defining and documenting solution designs that cover IT and non-IT solutions adding business value and meet the current and future needs of the business. Working with managed service providers and third party providers to develop solution options that factor enterprise ITC and non-ICT enabled options. Creation and review of technical and non-technical documentation including solution approach to markets, costings, resource, and capacity requirements. Identification of solution opportunities through research, analysis, discussions, and workshops. Collaboration and communication with stakeholders (including CIO, architects, project managers, and technical/business SMEs) to gain agreement on overarching solution designs. Commitment to solution and infrastructure design decisions ensuring effective, secure, scalable, and flexible solutions are of the highest practical standard. Every application requires addressing selection criteria as part of the application submission.
Experience: The candidate MUST have a minimum of 5 years delivering solution design services for government programs and/or projects (federal or state). The candidate MUST have demonstrated experience developing end-to-end solution designs that meet business requirements, AMSA/government guidelines, corporate strategies, and that are future-focused. The candidate MUST have demonstrated experience providing user-centric, business outcome-focused solutions, guidance, and assistance with a focus on continual improvement. The candidate MUST have experience delivering change for vessel safety (road, air, maritime) or other applicable regulatory functions.
The candidate SHOULD have experience delivering design-related activities related to incident, emergency, or first responder management. The candidate SHOULD have experience developing business blueprinting or other detailed non-technical outcome-focused overview documentation. The candidate SHOULD have experience using solution designs, blueprints, organization strategies/plans, and other project documentation to develop or contribute to the development of business cases.
