The Role
The SEA3000 Project is seeking an experienced, committed and passionate person who undertake the APS 6 Deputy Project Manager role within the General Purpose Frigates (GPF) Branch. The APS 6 Deputy Project Manager will work under limited direction within the team/branch in support of the Project Director and Project Managers. They will plan, manage, and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment, exercising independent and sound judgement.
The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
* Provide operational support to project management and facilitate administrative and coordination requirements;
* Research, draft and prepare briefs, complex correspondence and reports including submissions for committee consideration;
* Work collaboratively, operate as an effective team member and provide constructive feedback;
* Be responsible for actively managing key stakeholder relationships and will be required to identify relevant stakeholders' expectations and concerns to develop and communicate methodologies and practices to achieve outcomes;
* Resolve problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action;
* Engage Australian and international stakeholders to assist in achieving strategic objectives for GPF;
* Manage project financial reporting and analysis activities, and maintain commercial records;
* Develop, implement, and monitor project budget controls and strategies;
* Build and contribute to team capability while ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory and policy frameworks.

This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team
The SEA3000 Project resides in the General Purpose Frigates (GPF) Branch within the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group, as a part of the Major Surface Combatants and Combat Systems Division. The Branch has been established for the accelerated delivery of eleven (11) GPF vessels, and is the forefront of ADF Maritime Capability delivery.
This position is based at Alan Woods Building (AWB), Canberra. To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate an ability to apply project management methodologies to comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks. You will be relied upon to research, draft briefs, correspondence and reports; and resolve problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action. Strong communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to drive performance through collaborative relationships and strategic planning is essential.
The right person for this role will have:
* Experience in project management support, inclusive of project financial management is highly desirable;
* Well-developed professionalism and interpersonal skills to liaise, collaborate and build productive stakeholder relationships;
* The capacity to think strategically and develop plans and processes to enhance the achievement of business outcomes;
* Review project performance recommending changes where necessary to achieve business outcomes;
* High-level organisational skills, self-drive and initiative with the ability to influence others to achieve tasks and business objectives;
* Procurement and ASDEFCON practical experience is desirable.
