About the role: We are currently seeking an experienced journalist for our WIN News service, based in Wollongong. Working in a regional newsroom offers a unique experience, allowing you to take ownership of your market and report on various topics such as environment, sport, and politics. This role provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within the community and is highly rewarding.
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, you will research, compile, and produce high-quality news stories for our weekday bulletins. You will coordinate with editors and camera operators to ensure timely delivery and high standards. This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday.
About you: The ideal candidate will have:
* A university qualification in journalism with at least one year of experience
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Experience in creating engaging, ratings-winning bulletins
* Knowledge of local, national, and international news relevant to the community
* Understanding of media law
* Accuracy and strong attention to detail
* Effective time management skills to meet deadlines
* Ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively to team dynamics
* Initiative and flexibility in identifying story opportunities
* A positive work ethic and willingness to learn new systems and processes
