Senior product manager

Brisbane
Saphyroo Pty Ltd
Product Manager
Posted: 10 March
Offer description

Every year, thousands of Australian truck drivers are involved in fatigue-related incidents. Fleet managers run operations on spreadsheets, paper checklists, and disconnected systems. Safety compliance is a box-ticking exercise instead of something that actually keeps people safe.

We started Saphyroo to change that.

Drive360 is our transport and safety platform — fleet management, driver compliance, real-time GPS tracking, AI-powered vision cameras, route optimisation, and billing, all in one system. We help logistics operators manage their drivers, vehicles, and regulatory obligations (NHVR fatigue, chain of responsibility, cold chain) so that drivers get home safe and businesses stay compliant.

We're around 30 people across Melbourne, London, San Francisco, Saudi Arabia, and Brisbane. Nearly 15 live clients, 1,500+ users, and growing. The Australian fleet management market is worth 1.6M units and growing at 11% a year — still dominated by legacy players with outdated tech and 3-year lock-in contracts. We've found product-market fit, we have real revenue, and we're getting ready to scale. This is the moment where the foundation we've built becomes something much bigger.

What we believe:

* Own it. If it's yours, it's yours. You see it through.
* Empathy first. We build for real people. Drivers on the road at 4am, fleet managers juggling 50 trucks. If you don't understand them, you can't build for them.
* Ship, learn, iterate. Working software over perfect plans. Get it in front of users, learn, improve.
* Build only what's needed. No speculative features. Solve the problem in front of you.
* Scale with intent. We move fast, but we're building to last. The right process at the right time.

The Role

We're hiring a Senior Product Manager to own the Drive360 product and roadmap. You'll work directly with the co-founder, engineering, marketing, and sales — and alongside the wider product team.

You own the product. The roadmap, the priorities, the trade-offs, the outcomes. You'll be with engineers shaping solutions, on calls with customers understanding their world, and working with marketing and sales to drive growth. You define what gets built, why, and in what order — then you make sure it actually happens.

But speed without empathy is just shipping the wrong thing faster. Our users are drivers doing 14-hour shifts, fleet managers running operations across multiple depots, and safety officers keeping people alive on the road. You need to deeply understand these people — their daily reality, their frustrations, their workarounds — and translate that into product decisions that genuinely make their lives better. Design thinking, user research, and great UX aren't nice-to-haves here. They're how we win.

If you thrive on ownership, empathy, and building something that matters — keep reading.

What You'll Do

Own the Product

* Own the entire Drive360 roadmap — operations, compliance, fleet, safety, mobile, route optimisation
* Prioritise across go-live deliverables, customer needs, compliance deadlines, and growth features. Say no to the right things.
* Define product KPIs, track them, and course-correct when the numbers don't move
* Make build-vs-buy decisions. Ship the simplest thing that solves the real problem.

Ship the Go-Live & Scale the Platform

* Drive our platform migration to completion — this is your first big win
* Own the go-live roadmap: fatigue rules engine (NHVR compliance), reporting, document expiry alerts, driver onboarding
* Coordinate the mobile app buildout — the scaffold is ready, the core driver features need to be shaped and shipped
* Set the product up to scale: the processes, the priorities, and the team structure that carry us from 15 clients to 150

Understand Users & Champion UX

* Use design thinking — empathise, define, ideate, prototype, test. Understand the driver's 4am reality before you spec a feature for them.
* Run user research: ride-alongs, site visits, depot visits, interviews, usability testing. Get into the real world your users operate in.
* Own UX outcomes — what we ship must be intuitive, not just functional. If a driver can't use it one-handed in a truck cabin, we've failed.
* Build empathy maps and personas grounded in real data, not assumptions

Shape the Product Function & Drive Roadmap with Marketing & Sales

* Run effective agile rituals: sprint planning, standups, retros — enough structure to stay aligned, not so much it slows you down
* Partner closely with marketing — feed product insights into positioning, content, and campaigns. Help tell the Drive360 story authentically.
* Work with sales (CRO) to shape pricing, packaging, and feature positioning. Sit in on sales calls. Understand why we win and why we lose.
* Analyse competitors (Teletrac Navman, Samsara, MTData, Geotab, EROAD) and find the gaps we can own

Compliance & Regulatory

* Translate NHVR fatigue management rules (Standard Hours, BFM, AFM) into clear product requirements
* Stay across Australian transport regulations that affect the product (Chain of Responsibility, Electronic Work Diary, WHS)
* Turn compliance pain points into product advantages — make compliance feel effortless for our users, not burdensome

What You Bring

Must Have

* 5+ years in product management, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role
* You've owned a product and roadmap end-to-end — not just contributed to one. You decided what got built, why, and in what order — and you were accountable for the outcome.
* User-obsessed with strong UX instincts — you start with the user, not the feature. You've done real research, usability testing, and design thinking (empathise-define-ideate-prototype-test). You push back on "it works" when it should be "it's obvious."
* Business model thinking — you've used Business Model Canvas, Value Proposition Canvas, JTBD, or similar to understand customer segments and shape product strategy
* B2B SaaS experience — multi-tenant platforms, per-user pricing, and the dynamics of selling to businesses
* Cross-functional operator — you work naturally across engineering, marketing, and sales. You bring teams together around the user.
* Technical fluency — you can have a real conversation with engineers about trade-offs, not just hand over requirements

Nice to Have

* Experience in transport, logistics, fleet management, or a regulated industry (healthcare, fintech, safety)
* Familiarity with NHVR regulations, Chain of Responsibility, or EWD
* Experience with IoT / hardware integrations (GPS devices, cameras, telematics)
* Background in Australian B2B SaaS
* Experience scaling a product through a growth phase — from early traction to market expansion

What "Owns It" Means Here

This matters as much as your experience:

* You own it. Your product, your problem, your outcome. If something's broken, you fix it or find someone who can.
* You feel it. You have genuine empathy for the people using your product. You understand the driver's world, the fleet manager's pressure, the safety officer's responsibility — and you build for them.
* You ship. A feature in front of users beats a perfect spec. You iterate, you learn, you improve.
* You think scale. You build for where we're going, not just where we are. But you don't over-engineer. Right solution, right time.
* You're hungry. We're competing against companies 100x our size. You bring energy and ambition.
* You're honest. If something's off-track, you say so early. No surprises.

The Product

Drive360 is a deep, multi-module platform:

* Compliance. Pre/post-trip inspections, cold chain (fridge logs), driver declarations, timesheets, weighbridge
* Fleet & Safety. Vehicle service tracking, AI dashcams (fatigue detection, collision warnings, distraction alerts), GPS tracking, live video, incident reporting
* People. Driver profiles, document compliance, onboarding
* Route Optimisation. Multi-vehicle route planning, delivery sequencing
* Mobile. Driver app (early stage — ready to be shaped and built out)

Integrations: AI vision cameras (DMS/ADAS), GPS hardware, fleet management systems, Stripe billing, mapping services.

Why This Role

* Ownership. You own the product. Not a module, not a feature area. The product. You'll shape what Drive360 becomes.
* Impact. This platform keeps drivers safe on the road. Fatigue detection, compliance, cold chain. The work matters.
* Timing. We've found product-market fit with 15 clients and 1,500+ users. You're joining at the inflection point — the transition from startup to scale-up. That's rare.
* Growth path. This role grows with the company. As Drive360 scales, so does the product team and your scope.
* Hard problems. Regulatory compliance, IoT hardware, AI cameras, multi-persona UX (drivers, managers, safety officers, admins). This is complex, meaningful product work.
* Build the function. Shape how product works at Saphyroo. Establish the culture, the process, and the standard.
