About The Opportunity

The role of the Manager Parks Projects and Planning is to ensure the Region's Parks and Open Spaces, Natural areas and & Recreation facilities promote and support a safe, active and healthy community life. This will be achieved through the development and implementation of strategic plans & policies and the management of infrastructure development.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will

* Provide effective people leadership, including workforce planning, performance management, mentoring, capability development, and fostering a positive, safe, and collaborative team culture.
* Plan, scope and deliver projects for parks, streetscapes, cemeteries and natural area infrastructure via the capital works programs.
* Lead and support community and stakeholder engagement processes to inform the planning, design and delivery of parks and open space projects.
* Review asset management plans and incorporate findings into the annual asset renewal and/or capital works program and generate reporting for strategic asset planning and budget processes.
* Ensure compliance with work health and safety legislation, policies and procedures, with a strong focus on construction site and contractor safety.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following key selection criteria:

* Tertiary qualifications and extensive experience relevant to the position e.g. Parks & Recreation planning, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Asset Management or a related discipline.
* Demonstrated experience in the design and planning of parks, cemeteries, streetscapes, recreational facilities and public open space.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, Australian Standards, Planning Scheme provisions and best practice design frameworks (e.g. CPTED, WSUD, Universal Design).
* Extensive project and program management experience, with proven ability to plan, deliver, monitor and report on multiple concurrent projects within tight timeframes and budgets.
* Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, Councillors, consultants and the community.
* Strong digital capability, including effective use of Microsoft Office applications, with demonstrated experience or familiarity with GIS, asset management and project management systems.
* Demonstrated people leadership capability with the ability to motivate, mentor and develop a high performing team.
