About The Role
The Arts, Heritage and Libraries Branch enriches the lives of residents and visitors by delivering dynamic library services, cultural and heritage programs, and access to knowledge and creativity. The Branch plays a key role in community connection and lifelong learning, embracing emerging technologies to enhance service delivery and create welcoming, future‐focused library spaces across the Sunshine Coast. As the Technical Officer – Libraries, you will provide hands‐on technical support, development and management of library technologies that underpin the successful delivery of modern library services. This role is critical in ensuring systems are reliable, secure and innovative, supporting both staff and customers while contributing to the continual improvement of digital and technology experiences across Library Services.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical support and maintenance for library hardware and software systems
* Support Library Management Systems, apps, telephony, printing and RFID technologies
* Monitor and resolve hardware, software, network and connectivity issues
* Identify integration, architecture and security considerations impacting libraries
* Develop innovative technology solutions for library service needs
* Provide technical advice, training and mentoring to staff and vendors
* Manage help desk and service tickets with internal teams and external suppliers
* Prepare and maintain technical documentation and work instructions
* Support system upgrades, migrations and new technology implementations
* Contribute to research and adoption of emerging technologies in libraries
About You
* Bring a strong foundation in information technology or information services and enjoy applying your expertise in a customer‐focused environment.
* Have experience working with complex technology systems, ideally within libraries or service‐based environments.
* Are a natural problem solver with strong analytical and investigative skills.
* Communicate clearly and confidently with technical and non‐technical stakeholders.
* Enjoy balancing competing priorities while delivering high‐quality outcomes.
* Are comfortable working with vendors, service providers and internal ICT teams.
* Value documentation, consistency and repeatable processes.
* Are proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
* Understand the importance of security, compliance and good governance.
