If so, we would love you to join our School Readiness Funding (SRF) casual educator team at Moonee Valley City Council.

About the Role

We are seeking Certificate III, Diploma, and Early Childhood Teacher-qualified educators to join our SRF casual pool. As an additional educator, you will work alongside teams outside of ratio in some of our early years services to support children with complex needs.

Your role will focus on:

- Enhancing children’s learning and development outcomes.

- Contributing to safe, supportive, and nurturing environments for all children.

Location: Primarily based at Hopetoun Early Years Centre (Flemington), with occasional placements at other Council-run kindergartens.

Employment Type: Casual (up to 4–5 days per week, depending on your availability).

About Hopetoun Early Years Centre

Hopetoun is a 78-place long day care centre that sits alongside two co-located sessional kindergarten rooms, offering programs for children aged 3–5 years. With a stunning nature-based playground, our service provides rich opportunities for outdoor learning and play.

Located at the base of community towers, Hopetoun is proud to serve families from refugee, asylum-seeker, and displaced backgrounds, as well as from culturally and socio-economically diverse communities. We are deeply committed to inclusion, cultural sensitivity, and trauma-informed practice—ensuring every child feels safe, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the delivery of high-quality, play-based programs aligned with the NQF and VEYLDF.
- Document children’s learning and development, and contribute to goal setting.
- Apply trauma-informed practices in daily routines and interactions.
- Build warm, respectful, and intentional relationships with children and families.
- Work collaboratively with a dedicated and supportive team.
- Uphold the Child Safe Standards and ensure safe, inclusive environments.

About You

You are compassionate, experienced, and committed to ongoing learning. You bring:

- A Certificate III, Diploma, or Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) qualification (recognised by the Department of Education and Training).
- Regular availability up to 4 days per week.
- At least 2–3 years’ experience in early childhood education in permanent roles (extensive casual experience also considered).
- Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practices, the NQF, Child Protected Standards, and early childhood frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A culturally responsive approach to working with families from diverse backgrounds.

You must hold (or be willing to obtain):

- Working with Children Check
- Level 2 First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma Management certification

Why Join Us?

At Moonee Valley City Council, you’ll be part of a passionate team that values:

- Collaboration – working together to achieve the best outcomes for children.
- Inclusivity – creating safe, culturally responsive environments.
