Responsibilities
- Maintain public spaces from sweeping streets and footpaths to emptying bins, pressure washing shelters and removing graffiti; operate plant and equipment such as street sweepers and blowers to keep the city clean and welcoming for residents and visitors.
- Carry out repairs and upkeep, including painting, staining or repairing park benches and playground equipment, replacing signage or fittings, and maintaining hard landscape features to extend the life of community assets.
- Support gardens and green spaces by working with the gardens team on planting, weeding, mulching, pruning and irrigation for vibrant, healthy spaces.
- Engage safely and respectfully by following safe work procedures, handling chemicals responsibly, managing traffic, and representing the Council positively when interacting with residents and visitors.

Key Selection Criteria
Our ideal candidate will be able to show us the following:
- Certificate II or III in Asset Maintenance (Cleansing Operations) or equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
- Demonstrated experience in hard landscape maintenance, building and/or carpentry experience and 3 years experience within the cleaning industry.
- Proven ability to follow instructions and work according to established processes.
- Ability to provide good customer service and ensure the quality of work outputs.

Pre-employment requirements
- A copy of a recent National Police Check (less than 3 months)
- A current driver’s licence
- Any other mandatory requirements outlined in the position description (e.g., first aid, CPR, WWCC, forklift)
- The completion of a pre-employment functional assessment (paid for by the council) will also be required.
- If applicable, evidence regarding right to work in Australia may need to be presented.
