Experienced Bookkeeper / BAS Agent
~10 hours per week to start | Remote (Australia‑based) | Long‑term growth
We are seeking an experienced, detail‑driven Bookkeeper or BAS Agent (or someone actively working towards BAS registration) to join our growing bookkeeping and advisory practice. This role starts at approximately 10 hours per week, with the opportunity to increase hours for the right person. Casual to start, with view to offer Part Time to the right candidate.
This role is ideal for someone who takes genuine ownership of their work, learns quickly, and consistently operates at a high professional standard with minimal supervision. For the right candidate, the position will grow to include overseeing and reviewing junior team members’ work, including BAS preparation and month‑end reporting.
About the Role
You will work autonomously across multiple clients and industries, managing end‑to‑end bookkeeping including:
* Full‑cycle bookkeeping and reconciliations
* Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
* Payroll, superannuation, and STP
* BAS/IAS preparation and lodgement
* Month‑end and year‑end reconciliations
* TPAR preparation
* Reviewing junior staff work (for the right candidate)
* Client communication and follow‑up
* Maintaining clean, accurate, up‑to‑date files
This is a remote role, but applicants must be based in Australia and experienced with Australian compliance.
Essential Requirements
* Cert IV in Bookkeeping/Accounting (minimum)
* Registered BAS Agent or actively working towards registration
* Minimum 3 years bookkeeping experience
* Strong understanding of GST, BAS, payroll, super and compliance
* Exceptional attention to detail — accuracy is non‑negotiable
* Ability to work autonomously and manage priorities
* Fast learner who takes initiative and doesn’t need repeated instruction
* Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
* Experience working across multiple organisations and software systems
* Professional home office setup suitable for remote work
* High level of ownership, reliability, and follow‑through
* Committed to ongoing CPE and maintaining strong, up‑to‑date professional knowledge
Highly Regarded
* Experience reviewing or overseeing junior bookkeepers
* Experience preparing month‑end reporting packs
* Strong problem‑solving and reconciliation skills
* Ability to identify issues early and proactively resolve them
* Experience with workflow tools (Asana, Trello, ServiceM8, etc.)
* Interest in long‑term growth and stepping into a senior role
