We are seeking an enthusiastic Head Tour Guide to join us for the **** season
About the role
As the Head Tour Guide you will lead a team to deliver exceptional guided tours through the world heritage Purnululu National Park, honouring the rich indigenous heritage while providing tour commentaries on the region.
The successful applicant must be comfortable working in hot conditions at our live-in remote lodge.
Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, culturally informed and environmentally accurate tour commentary about Purnululu National Park and the East Kimberley region.
Lead and motivate a team of tour guides and Traditional Custodians, ensuring a strong team cohesion throughout the season.
Prepare and lead tour manifests for multiple tours per day.
Oversee the preparation, organisation, and pack-up of tour equipment and vehicles.
Safely operate 4WD tour buses, provide vehicle operation training and work closely with the Grounds and Maintenance Manager to support vehicle upkeep.
Coordinate operational logistics with the Lodge and Tours Manager, air charter partners, and other key stakeholders.
Implement improvements to maintain exceptional tour quality, safety, and content consistency.
Promote a strong safety culture within the Tours Department and ensure compliance with all safety systems and emergency procedures.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years tour guiding experience.
Confident speaker with excellent communication skills and welcoming personality.
Committed to outstanding customer service and willing to go above and beyond for our diverse range of guests.
Ability to supervise and motivate a team.
Hold a current First Aid Certificate.
Minimum MR Driver's Licence with PTD Authorisation.
Awareness and recognition of Aboriginal culture.
Cultural (geological and local flora/fauna) knowledge of the Kimberley, ideally Purnululu National Park.
Fit and able to work in warm weather outdoor conditions.
This role is a seasonal live-in position from mid-March/April through to the end of early October, working 21 days per 4 weeks and 8 days off, with a minimum of 5 days off each month in town.
Meals and safari tent accommodation are provided on site, as well as the ability to explore the national park and surrounding Kimberley.
Air and road transfers are also provided in and out of the National Park from Kununurra.
The successful applicant must be available to commence in mid-March/April ****.
