We are supporting a leading boutique corporate advisory firm in the appointment of an Associate Director to join their Sydney team. This group is highly regarded for its work across M&A, equity capital markets, strategic advisory, and complex transactions for major Australian corporates and private entities. The environment is tight-knit, intellectually rigorous, and best suited to professionals with deep public markets knowledge and a genuine passion for high-impact, board-level advisory work.
About the Role
The Associate Director will play a central role in advising senior executives and boards on strategic transactions, capital markets activity, and organisational decision-making. This is a position for someone who thrives on public markets complexity — someone who understands listed environments, ASX frameworks, market dynamics, investor behaviour, and the nuances of advising blue-chip clients on high-stakes transactions.
Reporting directly to the Corporate Advisory Director, you will manage end-to-end deal execution, drive strategic problem-solving, build market-ready financial material, and support origination efforts while mentoring junior advisors. Strong judgement, exceptional analytical capability, and polished stakeholder communication are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and coordinate client engagements across M&A, capital raising, strategic advisory, and public-market transactions
* Conduct detailed financial modelling, valuation work, and scenario analysis to inform strategic recommendations
* Prepare high-quality board presentations, investor materials, and advice notes that stand up to scrutiny from senior stakeholders
* Work closely with senior advisors and panel members to build strategic solutions for complex corporate issues
* Drive research, market analysis, and transaction preparation across multiple sectors
* Interrogate data and assumptions from counterparties, advisors, and third-party providers
* Contribute to origination through market mapping, idea generation, monitoring opportunities, and participating in pitch development
* Uphold the firm's values, standards, and commitment to excellence
Key Requirements
* Approximately 6–10 years' experience in investment banking, corporate advisory, strategy consulting, or a closely related field
* Strong public markets knowledge, with a solid grasp of listed company dynamics, equity capital markets, investor behaviour, and ASX-related activity
* Demonstrated experience in M&A execution, takeover defence, capital markets transactions, or complex advisory engagements
* Advanced modelling and valuation capability, with the ability to build robust models and pressure-test assumptions
* Proven ability to manage senior stakeholder relationships and communicate with clarity, confidence, and precision
* Ability to operate across multiple sectors and work effectively in a lean, high-performing advisory environment
* Experience using Bloomberg or FactSet is helpful, though not essential
