About the Job


The Senior Zoologist will collaborate and provide guidance to the Vertebrate Fauna team, relating to the completion of field data collection, analysis and reporting. Additionally, this role plays an important part in supporting the team leadership group in project management, preparing high quality reports, technical advice and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.


What you'll do


Lead and manage high quality vertebrate zoological surveys and assessments with support.

Report and liaise with clients on environmental legislation, specialist surveying techniques and conduct efficient technical field surveying & samples remotely & locally

Undertake a range of baseline (basic, detailed and targeted) and monitoring projects throughout Western Australia.

Contribute to the delivery of complex projects with support from Team Lead group

Leading and coordinating field work, budgets and milestones with the team to meet project requirements.

Contribute to technical training and development of internal team

Use complex statistical data to interpret research findings, building recommendations for client reports and presentations

Ensure that organisational and client safety protocols are adhered to, train colleagues and team members on processes, and contribute to the creation of a culture of continuous safety improvement.

Document and record survey findings, providing guidance to Zoologists and other internal stakeholders

Role model client and organisational policies and procedures at all times, contributing to the workplace and safety culture

Identify and research new wildlife habitats, species and ecosystems throughout regional areas

Lead the development of ecosystem management recommendations within client reports


About you


A tertiary qualification in Zoology, conservation biology, Environmental Science or similar

Class C, open licence (essential) and experience with 4WD (preferable)

Postgraduate experience in a relevant field, with clear evidence you can work effectively

Demonstrated experience leading and managing field teams

Ability to manage small projects or larger projects with support

Ability to produce technical reports and other deliverables to a high standard with minimal support

Experience within Zoology (vertebrate or invertebrate) and a moderate level of understanding of vertebrate ecology and species identification
