Role Description
We have an exciting opportunity for an Aviation Technical Instructor to join a Defence aviation training program in Wagga Wagga, NSW. This role sits within a structured RTO environment delivering Initial Employment Training (IET) and Post-Initial Employment Training to Australian Defence Force personnel. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality aviation technical training, mentoring Defence trainees, and ensuring all learning outcomes meet regulatory and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Deliver aviation technical training in classroom and simulated environments
- Supervise and mentor Defence personnel during practical learning
- Provide specialist aviation technical knowledge and advice
- Develop and maintain training materials and documentation
- Maintain accurate electronic and hard-copy training records
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory and stakeholder requirements
- Support Defence trainees in aviation best practice and professional development
Typical Tasks Include
- Daily/transit checks and rectification support
- Tech log review, accurate documentation, and defect escalation
- MEL/CDL awareness and support to return-to-service activities
- Tool control, FOD prevention, and safe work practices on the apron/hangar
- Working to production milestones, work packs, and shift handovers
Essential Requirements
- Required Role Experience: Demonstrated experience as a qualified Aviation Maintenance Engineer (AME), Aircraft Engineer or Electrical Engineer with strong aviation safety regulation knowledge.
- Maintenance Qualification / Licence: Certificate IV in Aeroskills (or equivalent) preferred (relevant experience considered) & Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116) highly regarded
- Work Rights: Must be an Australian Citizen
