About the Role
We're looking for an experienced and detail oriented SMSF Accountant to join our growing Brisbane team. You'll work closely with our accounting team to ensure each fund meets its regulatory obligations while maintaining exceptional standards of accuracy and client service. If you enjoy technical hands on work and being part of a professional collaborative environment this could be the perfect role for you.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare SMSF financial statements, annual returns and tax documentation
* Complete bank reconciliations and process investment transactions
* Ensure compliance of all funds
* Liaise with auditors, clients and our wider team of experts
* In collaboration with the team provide advice on SMSF regulations, taxation and compliance requirements
* Complete SMSF reporting obligations within required timeframes
* Assist with process improvement initiatives and workflow efficiencies
* Support a high standard of documentation and file management across all SMSF records
About You
You're a true SMSF Specialist who genuinely enjoys the technical side of superannuation and takes pride in delivering high quality compliant outcomes. You're confident in your expertise and bring a strong depth of knowledge across SMSF accounting legislation and reporting. You're someone who enjoys ownership of your work and thrives in an environment where accuracy, structure and excellence matter.
To succeed in this role you'll bring
* Business / Commerce degree with an Accounting major
* A minimum of 3 years proven experience preparing SMSF financials, tax returns and compliance reporting
* Strong practical knowledge of superannuation legislation, ATO requirements and audit processes
* A proactive mindset with excellent attention to detail and problem solving skills
* Confidence managing deadlines and complex fund structures
* CA or CPA qualification would be highly regarded
* Proficient in the use of SMSF administration software such as Class and other accounting tools
* Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up to date with industry changes
