Source Control Technical Officer
Are you passionate about protecting the environment and supporting safe, sustainable wastewater management? If you enjoy a balance of fieldwork and technical problem‐solving while working with local businesses to improve compliance, we invite you to apply for the Source Control Technical Officer position at Redland City Council.
As our Source Control Technical Officer, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the performance of Council's wastewater network by regulating trade waste discharges and identifying contamination risks before they impact our treatment processes, assets or worker safety.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Conducting targeted inspections of trade waste pre‐treatment infrastructure
* Undertaking business site assessments to determine risk classifications and servicing requirements
* Performing wastewater sampling, catchment mapping and contaminant risk analysis
* Supporting end‐to‐end non‐compliance management processes
* Providing guidance and education to trade waste customers to improve compliance and environmental outcomes
Skills and experience:
* Ability to apply technical knowledge to practical, operational environments
* Strong collaboration skills, with experience working alongside engineers, operators, laboratories and customers
* Demonstrated commitment to safety for yourself and others
* Sound problem‐solving skills with a proactive and adaptable approach
* Ability to manage workloads independently in a dynamic mix of office and field‐based settings

Employment and eligibility:
* You have the ability to obtain Authorised Person powers under the Local Government Act 2009.
* You have the ability to meet the functional requirements of the role including having or obtaining on‐commencement manual handling training.
