Exciting opportunity within our Engineering Business Unit
The Role
We’re looking for an Equipment Engineer to play a key role in developing and delivering custom-engineered equipment solutions. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and commercial delivery, combining concept design, project scoping, and technical sales support.
You’ll work closely with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to define project scope, develop concepts, and ensure solutions are technically sound and commercially viable.
Responsibilities:
Develop project scopes and conceptual designs for custom equipment solutions.
Prepare cost estimates, quotations, and detailed technical proposals.
Act as a primary point of contact for customers, ensuring clear and professional communication.
Create General Arrangement (GA) drawings and 3D conceptual CAD models.
Identify and engage with component suppliers to support project delivery.
Translate technical requirements into clear, accurate commercial offerings.
Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure designs align with agreed scope.
Participate in client design reviews and monitor project progress.
Identify and resolve technical or project issues, escalating where required.
Support development of sales tools and marketing materials.
Ensure designs and project scopes meet relevant standards, safety, and compliance requirements.
About You
You are a commercially aware engineer who enjoys working with clients and developing practical, engineered solutions. You are comfortable balancing technical detail with customer engagement and commercial outcomes.
You bring:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar discipline).
3+ years experience in technical sales, applications engineering, or engineered-to-order environments.
Strong understanding of mechanical equipment and systems.
Experience with hydraulic and electrical system integration.
Proven ability to develop custom-engineered solutions.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear proposals.
Experience with 3D CAD (Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar).
Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders effectively.
Highly regarded:
Experience in winching, cable handling, dredging, lifting, mining, or heavy industry.
Familiarity with Australian Standards and compliance requirements.
Experience working directly with customers in complex technical environments
