The Lions Eye Institute (LEI) is a not-for-profit centre of excellence that combines world class scientific research into the prevention of blindness with the highest level of eye care delivery. It incorporates one of Australia's largest academic ophthalmic practices, including a Day Surgery Unit, the Lions Eye Bank, Lions Outback Vision, Clinical Trial Department, Laser Vision Centre, Lions Optics and the Lions Save-Sight Foundation WA
We are looking to engage with an experienced and self-motivated Medical Secretary to join us on a full-time, ongoing basis, responsible for the provision of effective, thorough and proactive administrative and secretarial support within the practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Making patient appointments in conjunction with LEI appointment staff and clinical trials coordinators, including prompt processing of patient referrals within guidelines provided.
* Accurate and timely invoicing and account reconciliation including patient, health fund and government department billing
* Answering enquiries from patients, referrers and health insurance companies
* Timely administration of all incoming and outgoing correspondence/emails including scanning reports into electronic medical record system
* Timely processing of dictated medical reports
* Maintaining appropriate clinic profile on the electronic booking system
* Assisting in surgery waitlists, and preparing upcoming operating lists in conjunction with the surgery bookings office staff
Essential Criteria
* Previous medical secretary / reception experience
* Previous experience of working within a specialist practice would be highly desirable
* Experience using VIP (Best Practice Software)
* Highly proficient computing skills
* Previous data entry experience - strong attention to detail is imperative
* An excellent telephone manner and customer service orientation
