This is an exciting opportunity tosupport the Executive Director, Regulatory Operations and theRegulatory Operations leadership team in developing and leading theimplementation of capability building and continuous processimprovement projects across Regulatory Operations. The role willalso provide central coordination of planning, data and reportingincluding performance reporting and pipeline reporting forRegulatory Operations, to enable effective management of resourcesand promote timely decision making.DutiesAs Assistant Director, Improvement and Reporting, you will beresponsible and accountable for:Planning, coordinating, and delivering projects andbusiness improvement initiatives that build the capability ofRegulatory Operations and support the strategic and operationalobjectives of the agency.Reviewing, developing, and providing well considered adviceon procedures, guidelines, business improvements andpolicies.Producing high level advice and engaging in complexproblem-solving using professional judgement and evaluatingrisks.Supporting the Regulatory Operations capacity regardingreporting including areas such as preparing reports for theCommission and other key internal stakeholders, performancereporting, business planning and annual reportingcontributions.Implementing initiatives set by the Executive Director tosupport Regulatory Operations.Exercising independence and performing a leadership rolewithin Regulatory Operations including working across teams andsupporting change.Building team capability by leading the development andimplementation of business improvement strategies.Performing other duties as required.We are looking for someone who is passionate about contributingto the excellence of Australian higher education. Our idealcandidate will have:Strong analytical and organisational or project planningskills to manage a significant program of improvement andenabling projects often with competing or tight deadlines.Experience in developing and implementing improvements inregulatory processes and in systems that support regulatoryprocesses, preferably in an education environment.Excellent communication skills, including the ability toprepare well-structured persuasive reports, concise advice,strategies, polices, briefs to senior management, writeprocedural guides and other artefacts for a wide audience thatcould include both external and internal readers and that areclear and easy to understand.A preference for working with change and well-developedskills for engaging teams in change processes.Customer service and result-focused approach with processimprovement and growth mindset, ability to model desiredorganisational values to the team and leading by example.Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills,ability to build and maintain strong and effectiverelationships with internal and external stakeholders.Qualifications and experienceOrganisational or project planning and delivery experienceand/or skills or experience in a similar role.Experience contributing to change management, projectdelivery and business improvement.A tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant discipline orrelevant practical experience in the Australian Public Service(APS) will be advantageous but not essential.The successful applicant must:be an Australian citizen.complete a National Police Check satisfactorily.be able to obtain and maintain an Australian GovernmentSecurity Vetting Agency (AGSVA) clearance to Baseline status,supported by TEQSA.Failure to satisfy any of the above conditions may result in thewithdrawal of an offer of employment or termination ofemployment.How to applyPlease refer to TEQSA’s career page for more details about the role in the CandidateInformation Pack (CIP) to assist you in applying for the role.Your application should include:A two-page cover letter (pitch) (maximum 1000 words)detailing how your skills and experience addressthe ‘our ideal candidate’ section (i.e., what makesyou the best candidate for theposition).Applications close 11.45pm (AEST) on Sunday, 15 June2025.Apply today!
