ENGINEERING MANAGER - TRANSMISSION TOWERS & LINES

The Western Renewables Link is a proposed new 190 kilometre overhead high‐voltage electricity transmission line that will carry renewable energy from Bulgana in western Victoria to Sydenham in Melbourne's north‐west. This critical infrastructure will unlock the renewable energy potential of western Victoria as a key Renewable Energy Zone and help deliver clean and affordable energy to all Victorians.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Engineering – Lines and Towers Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating and assuring all engineering activities associated with transmission line and tower works across the project. The role provides technical and managerial oversight of line route engineering, tower design, foundations, interfaces and constructability to ensure safe, compliant and efficient delivery. Reporting to the Engineering Senior Manager, this role works closely with Engineering Leads, construction, logistics, project controls, land access, safety and asset owner teams, the role ensures engineering outcomes align with project objectives for safety, quality, program, cost and risk. The Lines and Towers Manager plays a critical role in engineering governance, assurance and risk management throughout design, construction, commissioning and handover in accordance with the Builder PSDR, PCRs, PFRs and applicable standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Lead and manage all engineering activities related to transmission lines and towers
* Establish and maintain engineering governance, assurance and approval processes for lines and towers
* Ensure engineering deliverables comply with the Builder PSDR, PCRs, PFRs, approvals and relevant standards
* Oversee development, review and acceptance of line route, tower, foundation and interface designs
* Ensure constructability, operability and maintainability considerations are embedded in engineering outcomes
* Manage engineering interfaces between lines, towers, foundations, access tracks, logistics and construction
* Lead identification, assessment, and mitigation of engineering risks for line and tower works
* Oversee Safety‐in‐Design activities, ensuring hazards and controls are identified and managed
* Support construction teams with technical advice and resolution of complex site‐based issues
* Manage engineering change, deviations and design clarifications in accordance with change control processes
* Coordinate engineering inputs to construction planning, sequencing and recovery strategies
* Ensure effective coordination between internal engineering teams and external designers and consultants
* Maintain design risk, design issues and design review registers
* Ensure engineering documentation, approvals and records are maintained in the EDMS and CDE
* Contribute to Monthly Progress Reports, audits and assurance reviews
* Lead, mentor and develop engineering personnel within the lines and towers discipline
* Engage with asset owners, independent reviewers and regulators on engineering matters as required
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Tertiary qualification in civil, structural or electrical engineering
* Extensive experience managing transmission line and tower engineering on major infrastructure projects
* Strong technical knowledge of overhead transmission lines, tower structures and foundations
* Strong understanding of constructability, Safety‐in‐Design and engineering risk management
* Experience supporting construction, erection, stringing and commissioning activities
* Strong leadership, decision‐making and problem‐solving capability
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* High attention to detail with strong documentation and governance discipline
* Ability to manage competing priorities across safety, program, cost and quality objectives
* Experience in regulated or safety‐critical infrastructure environments
* Chartered Professional Engineer status or eligibility (desirable)
* Experience on large linear or transmission projects (highly desirable)
