The opportunity
We're seeking an enthusiastic, commercially minded Merchandise Planner to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. In this pivotal role, you'll act as the key connection between the Chief Merchant and the Planning team, helping drive sales growth, improve stock efficiency through strong analytics, and deliver high-quality reporting. Working closely with Category Managers, Finance, Marketing, and Supply Chain, you'll bring a strategic, forward-thinking approach to inventory optimisation, while supporting initiatives that lift margin performance and overall sales results.
Key Responsibilities
* Partner with the Planning Manager and Category Managers to execute the seasonal merchandise strategy, delivering range, option, and buy plans aligned to financial objectives across all categories.
* Own and deliver key commercial KPIs including sales, stock turn, Open to Buy (OTB), sell-through, and gross profit, supported by disciplined analysis and structured reporting to drive performance.
* Develop customer-centric seasonal assortment plans informed by historical performance, trend insights, and commercial hindsight, supporting sound buying decisions aligned to seasonal design direction.
* Lead core merchandise planning processes end-to-end, including range planning, buy quantities, delivery phasing, inventory levels, and markdown strategies to maximise gross profit and exit outcomes.
* Drive in-season and post-season trading performance through effective inventory management, replenishment, store grading, stock reallocation across channels, and pricing execution.
* Provide robust quantitative analysis and qualitative insights to optimise pricing architecture, assortment mix, promotional activity, and overall category performance.
* Build strong cross-functional partnerships across Planning, Allocation, Finance, Retail Operations, Product, Marketing, and Digital teams to ensure alignment and delivery of commercial objectives.
* Support team leadership and capability development through coaching, consistent performance management, and succession planning.
* Champion best-practice planning and allocation processes, data integrity, and tools, including leading the implementation and optimisation of the Toolio Planning & Allocation platform.
Skills & Experience
* Minimum 3+ years experience in a similar position, preferably within the fashion industry
* Strong ability to interpret data and results & forecasting experience
* Highly developed analytical skills with a solutions focused approach
* Impeccable attention to detail & time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a time critical environment
* Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Previous experience with planning tools is a plus
