The Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council is a Perth-based Regional Local Government providing services in waste management, resource recovery, and sustainability initiatives.

- Full time, two-year fixed term contract
- Accounts payable / receivable and reconciliation experience essential
- Strong numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail

- Up to 17% superannuation (salary sacrifice conditions apply) and 17.5% leave loading on annual leave taken

An opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Officer to join our Finance Team. Working closely with the Finance Team Leader, you will assist with the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation, ensuring accuracy and timely processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial administration tasks.

Your ability to work with numbers and systems, maintain accurate records, and deliver excellent customer service will make you a valuable contributor to our Finance Team.

About the Role

Key responsibilities include:

- Processing accounts payable and receivable transactions
- Monthly bank reconciliations and support with month-end journals
- Preparing, issuing and reconciling debtor invoices and credit notes
- Following up outstanding debtors and conducting reference checks when required
- Preparing and reconciling BAS returns and diesel fuel rebate claims
- Processing and reconciling corporate credit card statements
- Maintaining accurate creditor and debtor records in SynergySoft
- Assisting with petty cash, EFT payments and cash sales summaries
- Providing support to team members during peak times or absences
- Liaising with internal and external customers in a timely and professional manner

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and accurate data entry
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
- Ability to work as part of a busy team as well as independently
- A positive, 'can-do' attitude and willingness to learn

Highly regarded

- Experience with SynergySoft financial software
- Experience with electronic document management systems
- Qualifications in Accounting or progression towards them
- Knowledge of Local Government functions and structure

You will be working alongside an experienced and supportive finance team and become an integral part of the EMRC’s Business Support – Finance Team.
