Overview

The Department of Communities brings together the services and functions of disability services, child protection and family support, community initiatives and regional services reform. Build on your professional development and experience in Finance by joining our team. Working within the Finance directorate, you will be part of a highly skilled team focused on financial accounting related functions that play a critical role in ensuring transparency, accountability and compliance of agency financial transactions aligned with regulatory standards. The Financial Services teams support the agency to ensure effective financial management and strategic planning by offering insights into a company's financial health and performance. The directorate's financial accounting teams provide a range of services including:

* Recording, summarising and reporting the financial transactions of the agency.
* Prepare financial statements, such as balance sheets, income and cash flow statements.
* Ensure the accuracy and compliance to accounting standards and regulations.
* Analyse financial data, manage ledgers, and provide insights into performance supporting leaders with effective decision making.
* Undertaking Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Purchasing Card and Banking functions


The Opportunities

Level 3 Accounts Officer Organises and processes accounts payable transactions, performs cheque management and bank transaction functions. Reconciles and processes payroll deductions and supports the accounts receivable operations. Also manages the debt recovery process, develops and maintains effective liaison with the Department's major creditors while working collaboratively with other Accounts Payable staff to ensure integrated service provision.

Level 4 Senior Finance Officer ensures timely and efficient delivery of Financial Accounting and Reporting services in relation to asset accounting, general ledger maintenance and reconciliation activities, and Statutory Reporting obligations in accordance with the Financial Management Act 2006 and Treasurer's Instructions, while ensuring the quality, reliability and data integrity of the Department's Financial information.

Level 5 Financial Accountant ensures there are adequate controls within systems that comply with legislation and standards, oversees internal and external Financial Reporting Obligations and the Department's Tax Obligations. Ensure key aspects of the Asset Management function are undertaken, developing and maintaining relevant financial and accounting policies, guidelines and procedures. Works collaboratively as a team member to ensure the objectives of the Financial Accounting Section are achieved.

Level 6 Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for the coordination and preparation of monthly reporting, the preparation of annual financial statements, the review of monthly balance sheet reconciliation and develops and maintains policies consistent with whole of government policies, and relevant accounting standards and legislation.


The Talent Register

The Accounting Operations Talent Register is an online portal that allows you to register your interest for full time and part time opportunities that are:

* Fixed term/secondment opportunity for up to twelve (12) months.
* Transfer at level for existing permanent public sector employees.
