At Happitat, we're on the hunt for a fun, energetic and experienced Head of Department - Adventures who isn't just familiar with outdoor adventures but has lived them. Your role will be to lead your team to guide our customers through the cliff park adventures, providing thrilling and educational experiences that highlight the beauty of nature. As a key member of our team, you will ensure every guest feels welcomed, informed and safe, fostering a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere.
You act as an ambassador of Happitat Adventure Park, in which your role requires a confident and vibrant energy to encourage customers to walk on the wild side, maintain high level of safety and compliance across our unique adventure park. We have invested in high quality, well-maintained equipment but we are relying on you to look after our customers, our team, and our gear. We are here for a long time so you will also be looking after our pristine environment and be passionate about sustainability.
Tasks:
1. All aspects of adventure tourism including resource management, customer service, fitting and maintenance of harnesses and other safety equipment, safety briefing and ensure adherence to safety protocols for all park activities. Completion of emergency rescue plans and executions.
2. Lead & manage a team of guides, providing guidance, training, and support, with focus on individual development.
3. Manage daily operations of the activities, team member rostering & rotation and performance management.
4. Prepare detailed reports on daily operations and customer feedback for Park Manager, undertake open and close procedures of the department and ensure safe isolation of cliff face.
5. Regular inspections & audits of safety equipment, work areas, paths and trails, park activity structures to identify & remedy potential safety hazards or issues.
* High level of physically fitness
* Current First Aid HLTAID011 & CPR HLTAID009 certificate
* Safely Work at Heights RIIWHS204E
* Certificate II in Sport & Recreation SIS20115 is advantageous
* Vertical Rescue Certification
* IRATA experience advantageous
* Cert IV Work Health & Safety
* Current Tetanus vaccination
* Own vehicle
* An understanding of exposure and working in outdoor environments
* Computer confidence and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Areas of the park and the role, can be very challenging at times, including varied weather conditions, so this position is best suited to an individual comfortable working outdoors and maintains a high level of physical fitness.
