South Coast Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation is a not-for-profit Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, providing Health and Wellbeing and relevant services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Shoalhaven area.

THE ROLE

The Psychologist/Counsellor will be responsible for the provision of evidence based counselling and psychological interventions to individuals, carers and families to improve wellbeing.

Please note that this role is being advertised as either Full Time or Part Time. Applications for this role will close at 5pm on Thursday 1st January 2026.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

* Bachelor's Degree in Psychology/Diploma Counselling.
* Demonstrated experience or understanding of health and wellbeing issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including a demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history.
* A demonstrated understanding of the relevant health and wellbeing issues affecting Aboriginal/Torres StraitIslander communities.
* Experience in providing evidence based psychosocial interventions in the field of alcohol and other drug, mental health or social emotional wellbeing.
* Knowledge and ability to use evidencedbased psychometric assessment tools, including the capacity to provide psycho-educational and therapeuticgroup programs to parents, children and family groups.
* Demonstrated experience in the delivery of casework, case management and/or counselling services, relating to alcohol and other drug work, mental health and or social emotional wellbeing.

Preferred applicants will also be required to undergo a National Police Check and obtain a new paid employee Working with Children Check (as required by the Act) prior to appointment with South Coast Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation.

Salary will be in accordance with the South Coast Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation Enterprise Agreement.
