The unit plays a critical role in ensuring privacy, confidentiality, and compliance across Townsville HHS facilities, supporting safe, effective, and innovative healthcare delivery.

Competitive salary and benefits
- Salary between $4651.70 – $4982.80 per fortnight (AO6).
- 4 to 6 weeks p.a. recreational leave with 14-17.5% loading.
- Generous employer contribution to superannuation of 12.75%.

About your opportunity
As Information Privacy Officer, you will lead the development and implementation of Townsville HHS's privacy program. You will provide expert advice on legislation, oversee privacy impact assessments, and foster a culture of privacy by design. This is a permanent full-time AO6 role based at Townsville University Hospital.
How you will be assessed
- Detailed knowledge of the application and requirements of the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) and Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011 (Qld), and high-level knowledge of the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) and Public Records Act 2023 (Qld).
- Demonstrated high standard written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships, negotiate, influence, network and consult with stakeholders, and use digital technology to supplement or enhance communication.
- Proven ability to analyse information in a complex healthcare organisation to provide high quality advice and make informed decisions on administering legislation and policy.
- Demonstrated ability to make ethical and practical judgements to identify, resolve, mitigate or escalate risks.
Requirements
- Whilst not required, a qualification or experience in privacy or a Bachelor of Health Information Management (or equivalent) will be highly regarded.
- Evidence of vaccination or immunity for Vaccine Preventable Diseases as per Queensland Health Policy.
- A probationary period may apply.
