Project Overview:
Bechtel is providing project and contract management services to customers in Western Australia to support exciting capital works programs, including in energy infrastructure. We are looking for people to join us to deliver these services in and around Perth where we are working within an integrated team with our customer.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for material management activities for a project or jobsite. You will be required to monitor, track, and report the status of the equipment to be delivered to the Contractors. This role may require you to attend site locations in the region to undertake or witness receipt inspections.
Major Responsibilities:
* Responsible for material management activities for project temporary operating and jobsite locations
* Coordinates material availability in support of design revisions, rework, contingency or work-around plans.
* Work with engineering to create the Project master equipment list / material take off, including updating the master list with updates to the design and/or project scope.
* Performs gap analysis against master equipment list and purchase orders to ensure all items are ordered;
* Identifies missing equipment from procurement activities and works with the relevant functions to close the gap.
* Work with others i.e., suppliers, contractors and other project resources to develop tracking tools for equipment to monitor progress and delivery from place of origin, through intermediate delivery locations and eventual turnover and control point to the contractor (using the equipment list noted above) and provide status reporting as required.
* Interface between equipment suppliers and the project controls and broader project management team and corporate inventory and logistic team to provide information and updates
* Perform over-short-damage inspections for equipment deliveries
* Periodic inspections to ensure that preventive maintenance and storage requirements are being met
Education and Experience Requirements:
* Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
* Advanced knowledge of front-end materials management work processes and systems expertise.
* Advanced knowledge of project Procurement operations related to the acquisition of materials on projects.
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, in particular Microsoft Excel
* Intermediate knowledge of work packaging, pre-buy methodology, and materials status reporting.
* Advanced skills in working with and communicating effectively with supervisors of other project functional groups, primarily Field Engineering, Construction, and Project Controls.
* Advanced knowledge of laydown and warehouse operations and standard material handling processes.
* Expediting experience would be beneficial
