Full Time / Ongoing
If you enjoy hands‐on work, thrive on variety, and take pride in helping keep public spaces safe and functional, our Rapid Response role could be the perfect fit for you.
About The Role
Rapid Response plays a critical role in addressing urgent issues across the city – from removing hazards and repairing minor infrastructure to responding quickly when something needs immediate attention. We're looking for someone reliable, safety‐focused, and adaptable, who will positively contribute to team culture and take pride in serving the community.
Your work may include removing hazards, responding to spills or flooding, carrying out minor concrete and kerb repairs, repairing fencing or street furniture, removing rubbish or deceased animals, and supporting first‐response activities after storms or incidents.
This is a varied, fast‐paced role where no two days are the same. You'll work across a range of locations and tasks, operate plant and equipment relevant to the role, and collaborate closely with other City Operations teams. Flexibility, problem‐solving and teamwork are essential.
About You
You're someone who stays calm under pressure, thinks practically, and enjoys getting stuck in when issues arise. Ideally, you'll bring a background in civil, construction, maintenance or a similar operational environment, along with a current MR driver's licence. However, just as important as your experience is your attitude – you're dependable, safety‐focused, and willing to learn.
You're Someone Who
* Takes ownership of tasks and responds proactively to issues
* Values safe work practices and looks out for others
* Works well in a team and contributes positively to culture
* Is comfortable working outdoors and responding to urgent or unexpected tasks
Experience with civil maintenance tasks, fencing, concrete works, or operating medium plant and equipment will be highly regarded, but training can be provided for the right person. You enjoy practical, hands‐on work and take pride in seeing the results of your efforts out in the community.
What We Offer
* Ongoing, full‐time work with a great mix of stability and flexibility to help balance life outside work
* Competitive pay with superannuation and employee benefits, including free income protection and journey insurance
* Opportunities for training and professional development to grow your skills over time
* Supportive team environment where your work genuinely makes a difference to the local community
The City of Playford values diversity and work life balance.
