Overview

Part time, ongoing. Band 7, starting salary $106,343 (pro rata) plus superannuation.

The Role

A rare opportunity exists for an experienced Heritage Advisor to join our Strategic Planning unit.

With your demonstrated knowledge in heritage planning and/or architecture in a heritage setting, you will:

* Provide expert advice to a range of stakeholder, including residents and developers, on heritage-related matters, projects and planning applications
* Contribute to heritage studies and associated planning scheme amendments to integrate heritage considerations into strategic planning for places
* Participate in the assessment of applications for heritage restoration funding, including works evaluation
* Assist with the promotion, education and engagement of the community in heritage planning and conservation

This is a part time position, of 3 to 4 days a week, with flexibility on the days and hours worked.

About You

You will have extensive relevant experience and qualifications in heritage or architecture. You will also bring to the role:

* High level of ability to assess architectural and heritage development proposals, and the ability to provide clear and practical recommendations on conservation and restoration
* Working knowledge of heritage styles, current best practice heritage conservation, the Planning and Environment Act 1987, the Heritage Act 1995 and related legislation
* Excellent communication skills with a customer service focus
* Strong time management and organisaiton skills
* Enjoy working in a team environment

A satisfactory police check is required for this role.
