Toorak College has an exciting opportunity for a 3rd year Apprentice Chef or newly qualified Chef to join our catering team. We are looking for an energetic, motivated and reliable individual just getting started in their career and who is looking to work with a dedicated and dynamic team of catering staff. The successful candidate will join a very special school community and assist the catering team in supporting our residential boarder's, students, staff and the broader community for catered events.

Role & Responsibilities
With exposure to a wide range of cooking methods and service styles, our Head Chef will work closely with our Apprentice Chef to provide supervision and assist in the completion of their apprenticeship or transition into this new role.

The Successful Applicant

* Must hold a current and valid Working With Children Check (Employer), a valid driver's license and access to their own transport.
* Possess a well-developed knowledge of food preparation and service with an emphasis on Asian cuisine, as well as baking and nutritional catering for students.
* A solid understanding of kitchen processes including monitoring of stock, food hygiene, food safety and OH&S practices.
* Ability to work within a large team of diverse people, supporting each other for the benefit of the department.
* A minimum of six (6) months experience in a commercial kitchen is preferrable.
* Applicants must possess a level of physical fitness suited to a fast-paced kitchen commercial environment.

This role is available to commence immediately, but for the right candidate a preferred start date may be negotiated. The proposed hours of work (approximately 21 hours are outlined below), will be during school terms only, however the successful candidate may also be required to assist with functions during school holidays when requested.

Monday - 8am to 2pm

Tuesday - 4:30pm to 7:30pm

Friday - 7am to 12noon

Saturday - 10:30am to 5:30pm
