Police Community Support Officer - Birmingham, Cardiff, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Swansea, Pontypridd and Oxford
Join us at British Transport Police (BTP) as we recruit Police Community Support Officers to serve the railway environment and its community, protecting and serving passengers and staff to minimise disruption, crime, and fear of crime.
Job Overview
As a BTP PCSO, you will enforce BTP Byelaws within the railway environment, conduct visible patrols at stations, provide victim care, manage security threats, investigate minor crimes, build community relationships, and support police officers. PCSOs are equipped with handcuffs and trained to handle a range of situations.
Locations
We are looking for PCSOs within our C Division: Birmingham, Cardiff, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Swansea, Pontypridd and Oxford.
Salary and Benefits
Competitive salary starting at £28,******, rising up to £31,******.
Shift allowance: minimum 15% up to 20% (default 15% after 8 weeks training, increasing yearly).

Defined contribution pension scheme administered by Royal London (4.4%-12% of salary).
Responsibilities
Conduct visible patrols at stations and on the rail network.
Provide victim care and support where needed.
Manage security threats and minor crime investigations.
Build and maintain relationships within the community.
Support police officers as required.
Qualifications & Eligibility
Opportunity for candidates who have NOT been unsuccessful for a PCSO role with BTP in the last 6 months.
Await 6 months after unsuccessful application for Police Officer, Special Constable, or PCSO if previously tested.
Last 12 months of no BTP vetting failures.
No custodial sentence, including suspended sentences (other cautions, convictions and police involvement must be declared but are not necessarily a bar).
No previous dismissal from another force or active investigation.
No bankruptcy, CCJ, or unmanaged IVA.
No offensive tattoos; face or neck tattoos considered case-by-case.
Permanent right to live and work in the UK and consistent UK residence for the past 3 years.

Complete a Situational Judgement Test (SJT). Failure means the application will not progress; reapplication allowed after the reapplication period.
Application will be considered for up to 12 months from the offer of employment.
