Community Development Role
We are seeking an experienced Community Development professional to join our team in Canberra.
The successful candidate will have a tertiary qualification relevant to the field of work, such as health promotion, social work, psychology, or community development/engagement. A minimum of three years' experience in facilitating Community Development initiatives and projects is also required.
Australian Driver's Licence and ability to consult with a wide range of stakeholders to develop local referral networks and implement community awareness and education campaigns within established guidelines or procedures are also essential.
Job Description:
The role involves promoting the service within the community to improve community awareness of mental illness, services available, and how to access these services. This includes coordinating and/or participating in community events, facilitating information sessions, and supporting the development of resources, activities, and events to engage consumers and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Promote the service within the community to improve community awareness of mental illness, services available, and how to access these services.
2. Coordinate and/or participate in community events including interagency, consortium, consumer representative groups, and partner meetings.
3. Facilitate information sessions with external services such as General Practitioners (GPs), Local Health Districts, and other Community Managed Organisations.
4. Support the development of resources, activities, and events to engage consumers and their families.
Requirements:
Tertiary qualification relevant to the field of work, such as health promotion, social work, psychology, or community development/engagement; Australian Driver's Licence; Three or more years of experience in your field of expertise; Experience in facilitating Community Development initiatives and projects;
