About Us
History that moves you.
Step into a career that's truly unique. The West Coast Wilderness Railway (WCWR) is a heritage and cultural experience that traverses some of Tasmania's most rugged and remote wilderness. Operating from Queenstown and Strahan, this restored steam & diesel railway follows the original 1890s line built to transport copper from the mines of Queenstown to the port at Strahan. It features the unique Abt rack-and-pinion system, one of the few of its kind still operating today.
At WCWR, our people are passionate about safety, quality, and preserving the legacy of one of Australia's most remarkable railways. If you're keen to learn a mechanical trade in a unique rail environment, this is a great place to start.
