Timberlink Australia I New Zealand is a leading timber products manufacturing and distribution business. Our two manufacturing sites are located close to some of the best plantation pine resources in the world - Bell Bay in Tasmania & Tarpeena in South Australia. Our fit-for-purpose indoor and outdoor plantation pine products are suitable for building new homes, renovation projects and other industrial manufacturing applications including packaging, pallets, and furniture components.

About the role:

We currently have a vacancy for a Community Engagement Officer that will work closely with our manufacturing site team to implement and strengthen local engagement programs that reflect these commitments, ensuring activities are culturally appropriate, community-led, and aligned with Timberlink’s strategic intent and values.

In addition to site-based support, the role contributes to the development and delivery of broader community-based programs, helping to build long-term, meaningful partnerships that create positive social impact and reinforce Timberlink’s role as a responsible regional employer.

This 12-month part time fixed term position reports directly to the General Manager – Risk & Community and will be based at our manufacturing facility in Tarpeena (approx. 20 minutes from Mount Gambier). We are open to candidates who are looking for either 3 x 7.6-hour days or 5 x 5 (school hours) days.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Build and maintain relationships with local leaders, government, Not for Profit organizations, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organizations and local non-government organization stakeholders.

- Understand and analyse community demographics, needs and priorities.

- Design and deliver Timberlink community initiatives that align with Timberlink’s Community Engagement Policy and Reconciliation Program.

- Contribute to the design and delivery of broader community-based programs and identify opportunities for Timberlink to partner with local community groups that support the key focus areas contained within the Community Engagement Policy.

- Facilitate in conjunction with the site leadership team, tours with community, local Government and schools.

- Track and report on community engagement activities and outcomes via online registers and through the quarterly Community Engagement Council.

- Assist with the development and execution of Community Engagement programs for other Timberlink sites as required.

Qualifications and Qualities you will bring to Timberlink:

- Proven experience to develop and execute a program of work

- Experience with working with community and/or charity groups within the local area

- Local Government or not for profit experience Knowledge and experience with the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) – preferred but not essential

- Experience with establishing and maintaining relationship with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
