The Senior Community Services Advisor - Education Early Intervention Officer works in collaboration Victoria Police, schools and the Department of Education's regional and area teams to act as a conduit to connect, coordinate and broker education supports to assist children years old), many of whom may have complex behaviours, to improve their connection, attendance and participation in education. Some travel to Department of Education offices (or other sites) across the region may be required.

The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for you as an Education Early Intervention Officer (EEIO) - Senior Community Services Advisor in providing education support for children aged 10-13 years who are coming into contact with police. The EEIO works in collaboration and coordination with key support services to re-connect the child/young person with their school or education setting. The EEOI will work closely in partnership with Department of Education Area and Regional Teams, Victoria Police, schools and other relevant key government agencies such as the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing and Department of Justice and Community Safety.

This role is based in the Brimbank Melton's Area Office (South Western Victoria Region) of the Department of Education, some travel across the region may be required.

To be successful in this role you will:

* Work collaboratively to guide others to create a culture of collaboration and identify, and work to overcome barriers through sharing knowledge and information
* Have experience in supporting schools and/or young people 'at-risk' or engaging with the criminal justice system (desirable)
* Have proven ability to effectively build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels through effective communication and exceptional consulting abilities
* Have effective problem-solving capability to resolve or escalate operational service queries
* Track record in identifying opportunities to work with other teams to deliver outcomes.
* Expertise in building and maintaining trust in partnerships, to achieve objectives through a timely delivery of high-quality outcomes.
* Expertise to facilitate discussions and navigate difference of opinions to reach decisions
* Provide a sense of purpose within the team by establishing links between work and impact to the community.
