This is a genuinely hands on role where you will take ownership of the full estimating lifecycle, from interpreting drawings and scopes through to producing commercially sound, competitive tenders.
Working closely with Engineering, Production, and Sales, you will play a key role in ensuring estimates are practical, well planned, and transition seamlessly into project execution.

Your role
Lead end-to-end estimating for mining, manufacturing and heavy industry projects
Review engineering drawings, specifications and client requirements
Prepare accurate cost estimates, sales quotations and estimate summaries
Manage subcontractor and supplier pricing including tender negotiations
Identify risks, assumptions, contingencies and cost-saving opportunities
Maintain and update labour and material cost data
Provide clear estimating handover at project kick-off
Review and validate estimates prepared by other team members
Improve estimating systems, processes and standards over time
Build strong working relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
About you
Trade background with solid estimating experience in heavy industry
Proven ability to deliver accurate estimates across labour, materials and manufacturing costs
Strong capability interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation
Commercially minded with strong numerical and analytical skills
Confident negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors
Experience using estimating software, CRM or ERP systems
Comfortable working autonomously while managing multiple deadlines
Strong communicator who collaborates well across teams
