The role
Western Heights College is a secondary school in the Geelong region. We are seeking classroom teachers to join our team for Years8–9 mathematics and science classes (and beyond).
Selection Criteria
- SC1 – Demonstrated knowledge of relevant curriculum, including literacy and numeracy integration; experience responding to diverse student learning needs.
- SC2 – Experience planning and implementing high‐impact teaching strategies, guided by student learning principles, and evaluating their effectiveness.
- SC3 – Proven ability to monitor and assess student learning, use data to inform practice, and provide constructive feedback to pupils and parents.
- SC4 – Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience building collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community.
- SC5 – Demonstrated behaviours aligned with Department values, continual professional learning, and reflective practice.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging mathematics and science lessons that meet curriculum outcomes.
- Analyse student data to inform instruction and set appropriate learning targets.
- Mentor/co‐coach other teachers in evidence‐based practice and reflective learning.
- Supervise and train student teachers where required.
- Participate in classroom management, assessment, curriculum development and school policy implementation.
- Attend parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, and school excursions.
- Undertake additional duties as directed by the Principal, consistent with your salary range and qualifications.
Eligibility and Qualifications
Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching, and possess or demonstrate relevant experience in the specified curriculum areas. They must hold provisional or full registration and, if applicable, meet post‐graduate teaching qualifications as required by the Department.
