Clough, part of the Webuild Group, has been awarded the Design and Construct (D&C) contract for AGL Energy's Kwinana Gas Power Generation 2 project (K2), a new 220 MW gas fired power station to be built in Kwinana, south of Perth. K2 will deliver fast start, flexible generation to provide critical backup capacity that supports the increasing penetration of renewable energy across Western Australia. The facility will strengthen AGL's energy portfolio in the state and aligns with the Western Australian Government's commitment to retire all state owned coal‐fired power generation by 2030. The project will supply power during periods of peak demand, providing a lower emission alternative within the state's evolving energy mix. At peak construction, the project is expected to employ more than 200 people, contributing to local jobs, supply chain and capability within the region.
The Role
