Job Opportunity
The position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow is available for individuals passionate about advancing biofuels and biomaterials.
Key Responsibilities:
* Identify genes involved in plant cell wall biosynthesis through detailed research
* Apply knowledge to redesign the cell wall structure for improved functionality
Core tasks involve using techniques such as HPAEC-PAD, PACE and MALDI to characterise the resulting cell wall composition and structure. Additionally, heterologous expression of proteins combined with microscale thermophoresis will be employed to evaluate enzyme activity.
Work Environment:
The role involves close collaboration with a team based at the Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI) and partners at the University of Adelaide. The successful candidate will utilise in-house methods to develop null mutants in candidate genes via tissue culture and gene editing in Arabidopsis.
