Senior Health, Safety and Setting Specialist
Our client, a global advanced materials manufacturer, is seeking an experienced and motivated Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Business Partner to establish and lead the EHS function across our Australia and New Zealand operations. This position is pivotal in developing robust safety frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Reporting directly to the ANZ General Manager, the successful candidate will partner with operational and corporate stakeholders to implement effective EHS strategies that support sustainable business growth. Employment type: Full‑time. Seniority level: Mid‑Senior.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS policies, procedures, and management systems aligned with organisational and legislative requirements.
- Conduct inspections, audits, and risk assessments to proactively identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks.
- Lead incident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and timely implementation of corrective actions.
- Deliver EHS training, inductions, and awareness programs to strengthen safety capability across the business.
- Provide expert guidance and support to managers and employees on all EHS matters.
- Prepare and present EHS performance reports, identifying trends and recommending improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed safety best practices into operational processes.
- Undertake regular site visits to monitor compliance and provide on‑the‑ground support.
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety (or higher qualification in a related discipline).
- Minimum 5–10 years of EHS experience within the construction, energy, or electrical sectors.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and Safe Work Australia Codes of Practice.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and implement EHS management systems in evolving or greenfield environments.
- Strong leadership, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to drive change across all levels of the organisation.
- Proven analytical and problem‑solving capability with a focus on practical, risk‑based decision making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high level of professional integrity.
