About the Opportunity
It's a time of transformation for the Higher Education sector and the University of Tasmania. Our People & Wellbeing division is playing a key role in shaping and supporting this transformation.
We're excited to strengthen our HRBP leadership team, with an Associate Director position.
As Associate Director, within our Business Partner network, you will be a trusted partner and senior leader shaping a people‑centred culture across the University. You will drive workforce strategies, organisational design, and impactful initiatives that enable academic and professional staff to thrive.
You'll provide expert advice to senior leaders, and champion programs that foster engagement, wellbeing, and high performance.
In a dynamic environment, your ability to translate strategy into action and build strong partnerships will create lasting impact for the University and its people.
What's Required
We're looking for a seasoned HR practitioner who thrives in fast-paced, relationship-driven environments. As a confident and capable leader able to set, operationalise and activate strategy into specific actions, you'll bring:
* Senior HR practitioner/leadership experience with a demonstrated track record of strategic partnership with senior stakeholders.
* Ability to navigate and cut-through complexity and provide pragmatic advice.
* A solid foundation in employee and industrial relations, paired with a mindset for organisational development (in other words, see the trends and initiate proactive action whilst managing the day-to-day operational matters).
* Sound project management skills to effectively and efficiently monitor and manage priorities and deliverables.
* A sharp eye for spotting emerging risks and a proactive approach to manage them.
* A hands on, action-oriented style; you're keen and comfortable to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty.
* Above all, you'll be a good human; empathetic, values-led, skilled at building meaningful relationships, and bring good vibes to contribute to our great team.
A few other things:
* A relevant tertiary qualification is great, but not essential if you have the right skills and experience.
* Prior experience in the higher education sector will accelerate your impact in the role, however if you've got a growth mindset and you're a fast learner, we'll support you to hit the ground running.
* From time to time, some travel may be required. Having an Australian Driver's license will make this easier.
What's on Offer?
You'll have access an array of staff benefits and discounts including.
* 26 Weeks paid parental leave for primary care givers
* 17% Superannuation contribution
* Health and fitness membership options
* Accommodation and Car Hire discounts
* Health Insurance and Banking
* Novated Leasing
