Reporting to the Hospital and Health Board, this executive leadership role carries full accountability for the delivery of safe, high-quality and sustainable healthcare services across one of Queensland's most geographically vast and culturally diverse regions.Based in Mount Isa, the HSCE leads a complex health system delivering services across regional hospitals, remote hospitals, multipurpose health assets and primary health clinics throughout the region.Click Here to watch a video message from Cheryl Vardon AO – Chair NWHHS.The OpportunityAs Health Service Chief Executive you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the health service, ensuring strong clinical outcomes, workforce capability and financial sustainability.Key aspects of the role include:Leading the executive team responsible for hospitals, remote services and corporate functionsDelivering improved health outcomes and access to care across remote communitiesAdvancing health equity initiatives in partnership with First Nations communitiesStrengthening workforce capability, culture and retention across a geographically dispersed health serviceManaging an annual operating budget of approximately $314 million and a workforce of nearly 1,000 staffEnsuring strong clinical governance, patient safety and organisational performanceBuilding trusted relationships with clinicians, communities, government partners and stakeholdersYou will work closely with the Hospital and Health Board and Queensland Health to deliver strategic priorities while ensuring the service remains responsive to the needs of the communities it serves.About the North West Hospital and Health ServiceThe North West Hospital and Health Service delivers public healthcare across a vast and geographically dispersed region of north-west Queensland. The service supports a diverse and remote population, including many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Improving health equity, strengthening partnerships with First Nations leaders and delivering culturally responsive healthcare are central to the organisation's future direction and strategic priorities.What Success Looks LikeImproved access and health outcomes for remote and regional communitiesA cohesive and high-performing executive leadership teamStrong workforce capability and retention across the serviceFinancial discipline while expanding service capabilityTrusted relationships with clinicians, communities and key partnersAbout YouYou are an experienced executive leader with a track record of delivering results in large and complex organisations.You bring the judgement, resilience and political acumen required to lead in a demanding regional environment.
