About the Role
Our Federal Government client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Modeller .
An IT Data Modeller engages in work scoping, sourcing, and optimising of data for analysis. They apply innovative analysis techniques and model results and scenarios, while maintaining the integrity of the system. An IT Data Modeller is highly proficient with data modelling and database design, business analysis, system databases, data elements and application software and other tool sets to develop enterprise data solutions.
They have expert knowledge of data modelling methodologies and techniques and have demonstrated experience in delivering quality data model solutions to support complex IT project delivery. An IT Data Modeller has a demonstrated ability to guide development of data requirements for projects and drive a user experience that is easy to use and delivers the right information at the right time.
They liaise and collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and apply data modelling techniques and methodologies to analyse and translate these requirements into detailed data models.
An IT Data Modeller possesses excellent communication skills and is able to present complex data models in an accessible and effective format suitable for the target audience.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Data Modelling Activities. This includes Conceptual, Logical as well as Physical Data Models for EDW Core and Access Layers.
* Set peer review and data modelling release standards.
* Provide knowledge transfer sessions on best practices on data modelling, release process etc.
* Own the technical implementation of new data from analysis to data modelling (designing and delivering data dictionary, defining best practices of data modelling and review steps).
* Conduct performance tuning and optimisation activities to improve the overall performance of existing solutions.
* Facilitate continuous improvement measures in delivery principles, coding standards, documentation and provide training sessions to team.
* Architect and model data to support DAPS and Aged Care projects/programs using the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile development practices and processes maximising the EDW environment and associated technologies (such as Teradata, Informatica, Cloudera, SAS, Cognos, Qlik, Oracle, PowerBi etc.).
* Manage productive stakeholder relationships and associated risks.
* Ensure technical standards, performance SLAs, and data quality frameworks are maintained.
* Collaborate with the delivery teams to identify and resolve data quality issues.
Technical Skills
Experience of working in Data Warehouse area.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver business solutions through the System Development Life Cycle & Agile development practices and processes.
* 5+ years' experience working and exhibiting knowledge.
* Demonstrated interpersonal skills and capacity to communicate and work effectively within a multi-disciplined and blended team environment.
* Experience and knowledge of Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDW) and associated technologies (such as Teradata, Informatica, GCP, SAS, Cognos, Qlik, Oracle etc.).
* Demonstrated ability to query and interpret data using efficient and effective SQL and provide sound advice on complex data/information related matters to deliver quality solutions.
* Proven ability to work in a team environment, with the ability to work with limited supervision and achieve results.
* A high level of organisation and good time management skills, including a demonstrated ability to meet priorities and work to deadlines.
* A demonstrated ability to engage with requesting business areas and project stakeholders.
* Ability to discuss technical issues/solutions with both technical and non-technical staff.
* Experience in proactively delivering results and driving business change.
* Practical skills in developing data management design artifacts, including developing mapping documents for builds in support of business processes and objectives.
* Demonstrated ability in the development and/or directing the creation of efficient, maintainable and cost/effective databases.
* Demonstrated skill to prepare and/or direct the creation and maintenance of data management documentation.
* Experience in the following:
o SQL for data analysis.
o Data modelling – dimensional and ERD, and awareness of data vault.
o Various database platforms (i.e. Oracle, SQL Server).
o XML schema design, ER Studio or similar.
o Data management principles such as Metadata management, Data governance and Data quality.
