About the role
The Network & Security Engineer plays a crucial role in managing and maintaining the Council's IT infrastructure. Reporting to the Senior Network and Security Engineer, this position will oversee network and security operations, ensuring efficient and secure technology assets that align with corporate service‑level agreements and regulatory frameworks.
Key responsibilities
* Lead daily operations of Council network and security infrastructure (monitoring, maintenance, configuration and troubleshooting) to ensure reliable, secure services aligned to SLAs and regulatory frameworks.
* Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to manage technology risk in line with network and security architecture, protocols and standards.
* Monitor, investigate and remediate network/security events and lead incident response improvements, including risk mitigation, documentation, and audit/compliance support.
* Lead and project manage network and security maturity uplift programs (metrics reporting and supplier management), contribute to Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity plans, and undertake other duties as required.
Required qualifications
* Degree qualification in Computer Science / Information Technology or related field OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in a similar role, combined with ongoing professional development.
* Demonstrated experience monitoring system & network events for security risks to prevent and / or mitigate incidents.
* Demonstrated team player behaviours, including pro‑active communication with the team in regard to identifying operational issues, problem solving and risk identification strategy.
* Demonstrated experience in building strong, credible relationships and influencing, persuading or negotiating outcomes that benefit or add value, to all or part of the organisation.
Salary & Working Conditions
The commencing salary for this position is up to $93,187.22. Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of $112,020.18 on completion of assessment of skills and performance plus 12% superannuation.
We have 2 permanent full‑time roles available. This role offers a 9‑day fortnight and flexible hybrid working (2 days from home, 3 days onsite) at the Wyong Administration Building. Location: Wyong.
